Recalls hit new Mercedes 4Matics for windshield failure

If you recently purchased a Mercedes 2016 or 2017 4Matic, your vehicle may qualify for a complementary windshield replacement from a local dealer. According to a report at Consumer Affairs by Truman Lewis, the bond on the windshield may fail during a crash.

As the windshield is an integral part of proper air bag deployment, this could pose a safety risk and increase the chances of injury.

Affected Models include the 2016 GLE350 4Matic and GLS 450 4Matic,  2017 GLE 400 4Matic, GLE 350 4Matic, GLE 350, GLE 550E 4Matic, GLE 63 AMG, GLE 63S AMG, GLE 43 AMG 4Matic Coupe, GLE 63S AMG 4Matic Coupe, GLS 450 4Matic, GLS 550 4Matic, and the GLS 63 AMG 4Matic.

This recall comes after some 48,000 registered GLE models in the US were sent to consumers with an improperly calibrated software that may mistake a front passenger for a child, automatically disabling the front side airbag.
